A cultivar from Australia with dark red purple sword like leaves this provides a stunning contrast in the landscape. Growing to 1.8m it enjoys full to part sun and if kept well watered can be maintained in pots as well as the garden. Mass planting provides a splash of purple in the garden.

Originating from Japan this dwarf variety makes excellent hedging and can be trained to a 1m x 1m hedge. Planting should be about 23cm apart. Soil should be free draining with organic matter – they dislike acidic soils. Leaves are small bright green and glossy. Several prunings a year will develop a dense hedge.
